ALICE
─ 2014
All the ingredients of Lewis Carroll’s tale are present, but twisted, monstrous, and darkened by the mud of a Wonderland suspended somewhere between a cellar and an abandoned mine. Alice is no longer a little girl; she questions reality and brings to the surface existential questions we carefully bury deep within ourselves: identity, madness, time, fear of death and the beyond, the gaze of others, power and its abuses.
Enhanced by metamorphosed characters, Alice’s journey is dissected and reconstructed to highlight its darkest essence. Alice presents a delicate play on surrealism, revealing the animality and absurdity of a disturbing and fantastical universe inspired by David Lynch and Hieronymus Bosch.
